We strive to spread the joys of music in our community!

"The "Chris Reed & Friends" band program has been a comprehensive, positive music program at the Noddin Elementary campus.  Chris and his team has more than doubled band participation from prior years and the kids have made leaps and bounds in their music ability and skill!"
Eric Scharer
Principal
Noddin Elementary

We don’t just teach how to play an instrument and read music. We increase their memory skills while helping to improving coordination, math, reading and comprehension skills.

In band, students learn Perseverance with a valuable sense of Achievement and, while experiencing rich culture and history, learn a strong sense of Responsibility.  While we all know music nurtures Self-Expression, it’s important to remember it also improves student’s Listening and Social Skills.

"Chris Reed and his team have a special gift of relating to children, and... has the complementary problem-solving and observation skills necessary to keep music lessons fun and educational..."

Advanced Students continue to learn new musical terms while being taught pop songs and classic standards. They meet their own seperate day than the beginners to focus on more challenging songs, but are also welcome to attend beginning band as Teacher's Assistants.

Both bands integrate with each other and perform as an inspirationally powerful ensemble, demonstrating the true power music has to unite us all.

While we know what does and doesn't work in a program and have tested out many different methods over the years, we still custom tailor our programs to fit individual school needs, as each community is different and requires special attention.

"I have been working with Chris and his Band Program for five years now. My oldest son started at Booksin and loved being part of band. When we switched schools and realised there was not a band there, Chris was able to put together a program which suited our small group of musicians. I love the way the program is designed to build confidence in playing from the get go and also gives opportunities for older, more experienced players to guide and mentor newer ones. The music chosen is age appropriate and fun, accessible yet challenging. Chris and his team are always very responsive and flexible in accommodating our requests or tweaking some part of the program in order to fit the needs of the children—providing resources and advice to move these young musicians on. The passion and fun that he brings to our band program is so inspiring to students as well as parents and the performances are a highlight."

"...It is amazing what Chris can get these elementary school kids to play!  It just goes to show that with Chris Reed and Friends belief in these kids and encouragement, phenomenal music can happen."
Superintendent Jan Kaay

Luther Burbank School District

Chris Reed and Friends is not just an outside group that comes in to teach your kids. Our programs do not only enrich the lives of its' participants, but it breathes new life into its' immediate school environment by filling the halls with music.

"I have had the pleasure of being the principle at 2 different schools in the San Jose Unified School District over the past 10 years and have hired Chris Reed for each. In every instance, they have come in and started a tailored band program that enriched the lives of our entire student body and far exceeded all our expectations.  Their programs always went above and beyond to deliver the kind of bands that our students thrived in and families loved."

"Chris Reed & Friends taught 40 3rd graders in our band!  We had a very strong and lively group. Many of Chris' students went on to the middle school band only to add strength to their program. We had two amazing sets of concerts per year and students had a deep appreciation for reading music, playing an instrument or two and performing in front of the school and parent groups."
